A Multi-Species Asymmetric Exclusion Model with an Impurity
نویسنده
چکیده
A multi-species generalization of the Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process (ASEP) has been considered in the presence of a single impurity on a ring. The model describes particles hopping in one direction with stochastic dynamics and hard core exclusion condition. The ordinary particles hop forward with their characteristic hopping rates and fast particles can overtake slow ones with a relative rate. The impurity, which is the slowest particle in the ensemble of particles on the ring, hops in the same direction of the ordinary particles with its intrinsic hopping rate and can be overtaken by ordinary particles with a rate which is not necessarily a relative rate. We will show that the phase diagram of the model can be obtained exactly. It turns out that the phase structure of the model depends on the density distribution function of the ordinary particles on the ring so that it can have either four phases or only one. The mean speed of impurity and also the total current of the ordinary particles are explicitly calculated in each phase. Using Monte Carlo simulation, the density profile of the ordinary particles is also obtained. The simulation data confirm all of the analytical calculations.

A matrix ansatz for the diffusion of an impurity in the asymmetric exclusion process
We study the fluctuations of the position of an impurity in the asymmetric exclusion process on a ring with an arbitrary number of particles and holes. The steady state of this model is exactly known and four different phases appear in the limit of a large system. We calculate the diffusion constant of the impurity by using a matrix product method and also obtain a representation for unequal ti...
متن کاملAn asymmetric exclusion model with overtaking a numerical and simulation study
An asymmetric exclusion model on an open chain with random rates for hopping particles, where overtaking is also possible, is studied numerically and by computer simulation. The phase structure of the model and the density profiles near the high and low density coexistence line are obtained. The effect of a site impurity is also studied.
متن کاملPartially Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Model in the Presence of an Impurity on a Ring
We study a generalized two-species model on a ring. The original model [1] describes ordinary particles hopping exclusively in one direction in the presence of an impurity. The impurity hops with a rate different from that of ordinary particles and can be overtaken by them. Here we let the ordinary particles also hop backward with the rate q. Using Matrix Product Ansatz (MPA), we obtain the rel...
متن کاملExactly solvable two-way traffic model with ordered sequential update.
Within the formalism of the matrix product ansatz, we study a two-species asymmetric exclusion process with backward and forward site-ordered sequential updates. This model, which was originally introduced with the random sequential update [J. Phys. A 30, 8497 (1997)], describes a two-way traffic flow with a dynamic impurity and shows a phase transition between the free flow and the traffic jam...

By considering the master equation of asymmetric exclusion process on a one-dimensional lattice, we obtain the most general boundary condition of the multi-species exclusion processes in which the number of particles is constant in time. This boundary condition introduces the various interactions to the particles, including ones which have been studied yet and the new ones. In these new models,...
